Stylish new neighbourhood bistro opens in Grange-over-Sands – The Estuary

The Estuary at Grange-over-Sands

A new classic neighbourhood bistro and bar has opened in the seaside town of Grange-over-Sands on the Morecambe Bay coast.

Creating local employment

Creating up to 10 new jobs as well as providing months of employment for local building and electrical contractors, The Estuary is the sister property of the AA rosette Porto Restaurant in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Champions fresh, local, season produce

Owned by Faye and Harry Ramsey, The Estuary champions fresh seasonal produce from local suppliers including Cartmel Valley Game, The Cheese Larder, Hawkshead Relish, McClures, and More Bakery.

Drinks are sourced from Pennington’s Tea & Coffee, Unsworth and Hawkshead Breweries, Strawberry Bank Damson Gin, The Lakes Distillery, with champagne, wines and prosecco coming from Lakeland Vintners.

Head Chef from The Grand at Grasmere

New Head Chef, Przemyslaw (Schemec) Dziewiatkowski joins The Estuary from The Grand at Grasmere to head up a kitchen for the first time, and has been working alongside existing Executive Chef, Slav Miskiewicz to develop the new menus.

Eight years on from opening Porto, Faye and Harry have thrown themselves into the challenge of launching a new bistro. And have been warmly welcomed into the local community.

Creating a buzz in the community

Faye said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the genuine buzz of excitement around The Estuary’s launch. All through the build, people have been popping their heads in to check on our progress, and as soon as we announced our opening date, we were fully booked for dinner.

“It’s been a long couple of years watching The Estuary come to fruition. Managing the project build whilst having a full-time job at Porto and another full-time job bringing up two small children has been a lot to juggle at times!

“We’re massively proud of the success we’ve had at Porto. We opened during a recession but we’ve had steady, and sometimes, unexpected growth. Despite the uncertainty around Brexit as well as other factors impacting on the casual dining sector around the country, we’re confident we can continue to buck the trend with The Estuary too.”

The Estuary is open every day for drinks, breakfast, brunch, and lunch from 10am-6pm. Dinner will also be served on Friday and Saturday evenings when opening hours are 10am-10pm. Reservations are advised. For more information visit http://www.estuary-grange.co.uk or call 015395 33453.
